“I write unto you, little children, because your sins are forgiven you for his name’s sake. I write unto you, fathers, because ye have known him that is from the beginning. I write unto you, young men, because ye have overcome the wicked one.” 1 John, 2:12,13.
God has saints of several degrees and sizes, and some of them have more communion with him than others. From among the multitude he chose twelve to be with him; from among the twelve he chose three, Peter, James, and John, who were of the privy-council; from among the three he chose out John, as his peculiar darling and bosom favorite, of whom it is said five times in St. John’s gospel, that “ he was the disciple whom Jesus loved.” So now at this day, God hath his babes who live upon milk and nothing else; he hath children also, who know their Father, and are assured of his love; moreover, he has his young men, who go out to war, and fight the Lord’s battles victoriously; and he has fathers in Israel, who abound in gray-headed experience and wisdom; for they knew him from the beginning, and they remembered his words. It is a great mercy to be one of God’s “little ones,” yea, the least of all – to be a star, though not a John, not one of the three, nor one of the twelve, nor one of the seventy; but to a John, a darling, and to lean on his breast, to lie in his bosom, O how great a mercy! It is a mercy to be new-born, to be taken into the family of God, and household of faith; but to grow up to a perfect stature, to be a man in Christ Jesus, O how great a mercy! Lord, thou knowest my desire; perfect that which concerns thy servant, yea that which concerns all thy servants.
It does not yet appear
How great we must be made;
But when we see our Saviour there,
We shall be like our Head.
We would no longer lie,
Like slaves, beneath the throne;
My faith shall Abba, Father, cry,
And thou thy kindred own.
(A Golden Treasury ~ April 20)
(This will be the last post of A Golden Treasury for a while. As a wife/caregiver, a keeper at home, servant and musician for my church, gardener, teacher, and writer, I no longer have time to post these online. I hope that these first few months of devotionals have stirred an interest for more of the same.
The original intent for this blog was to introduce this treasure of Bogatzky’s writings from 1746, so that you could have it for your own to download to your computer or wireless device. It is available now for only .99 on Amazon.com. http://www.amazon.com/GOLDEN-TREASURY-Children-God-ebook/dp/B006RBGYHE/ref=sr_1_1?s=digital-text&ie=UTF8&qid=1335437096&sr=1-1.

I will be checking here occasionally for comments, and would look forward to your visiting my personal blog at godsgracegodsglory.wordpress.com. I am currently working on this year’s Summer of Psalms curriculum for my grandchildren. Please pray for this work and other books that need to be finished.
The Lord bless you as you continue to seek His kingdom and His righteousness, and to glorify Him.
